About Pestle & Mortar Simple Solutions For Beautiful Skin

As a busy mother of five, Sonia Deasy needed a simple, effective skincare routine she could count on. And she wasn’t alone. While working alongside her husband, acclaimed international photographer Padraic Deasy, she saw firsthand how dry, dull and patchy his subjects’ skin looked up close. She knew there had to be a better solution. So she began to research one herself, working closely with her sister – who just so happened to hold a degree in biochemistry.
Together they began to develop a formula that followed Sonia’s own less-is-more approach to beauty. Always in favor of a natural look over layers of makeup, Sonia was determined to create a line of no-fuss skincare – free of harsh chemicals and worrisome ingredients – that left women looking and feeling their best.

A Note From Sonia About The Name “Pestle & Mortar”

The process of naming my business was as important to me as naming one of my children. One night, as I sat around the table after dinner with my husband and children, having yet another ‘what should I name this business?’ discussion, my eye was drawn to the pestle & mortar that lives on my kitchen counter top. I shouted ‘Pestle & Mortar!’ I wanted the name of my business to reflect my own motivations – namely simplicity, natural solutions and a less-is-more philosophy. Natural healing principles were instilled in myself and my siblings from a young age – whenever there was an ailment in my family, my father remedied it naturally.

My grandfather was the medicine man in his village in India and this tradition of natural healing has continued in my family for six generations – my uncle practices today in the same spot in the same village as my grandfather did. A pestle and mortar is an implement used since ancient times to grind medicines and food. It is a simple yet highly effective device that has withstood the test of time. The perfect name for my business!
The Pestle & Mortar Promise

We’re a family-made and run business with a word-of-mouth following – based purely on the results: hydrated and healthy looking skin. And our ingredients matter. All of our products pass the famously strict European skincare standards, so you can trust that what you’re putting on your body is pure, safe and highly effective.

We have adopted a game-changing method of formulating, where all Pestle & Mortar products are formulated as stand-alone products. By doing this our formulations end up being individual and easy for our customers to use our entire range. You won’t find Hyaluronic Acid in any of our other products as there is ample amount of HA active in our serum, so we concentrate on unique actives for every product making sure your skin is benefiting from an abundance of goodness.
